Staff Directory Inmate Services

INMATE PROGRAMS/SERVICES:

There are a number of programs available to LCDC inmates. Inmates are encouraged to participate in programs in order to improve themselves. The following list does not necessarily reflect all programs ongoing at this time. There are times programs are added, and deleted to accommodate the needs of the inmates and the facility.

FOOD SERVICES:

Inmate food services are provided by Aramark. ARAMARK is a leader in professional services, providing award-winning food services to institutions, universities and school districts, stadiums and arenas, and businesses around the world.

In FORTUNE magazine's 2010 list of "World's Most Admired Companies," ARAMARK was ranked number one in its industry, consistently ranking since 1998 as one of the top three most admired companies in its industry as evaluated by peers and analysts. ARAMARK also ranked first in its industry in the 2007 and 2009 FORTUNE 500 surveys. Headquartered in Philadelphia, ARAMARK has approximately 255,000 employees serving clients in 22 countries.

Inmates are fed three nutritionally balanced meals a day. The meals are approved by a licensed dietitian, and locally prepared and served.

COMMISSARY:

Inmate commissary services are also provided by Aramark. Inmate with funds on account may select items from an approved list. Orders are filled by Aramark employees, and delivered to inmates twice a week. Family members may also order special items online (www.luna.icaredirect.com) that will be delivered to inmates. ICare orders are delivered once a week. Families may send US Funds to inmates through the mail using money orders. Money orders must come completed, with the inmates LCDC number. There is a limit of $250 for each money order or cashiers check.

BONDING:

Bonding: Enables inmates to be released from custody while waiting for their court date. The LCDC does bonding 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There are four types of bonds.

Cash Bond – the full amount of the bond is paid in cash or money orders made directly to the court. The LCDC acts as an agent for the courts. Cash and money orders may be taken and receipts given. Please call ahead to verify rules for cash bonding.

Surety Bond – (Professional Bondsman) – a licensed bondsman post the bond and charges a fee based on a percentage of the inmates total bond. Detention staff are not allowed to recommend a bondsman or a bonding company. Inmates may obtain a list of bonding agents in the Deming area from the booking officer.

Property Bond – If the inmate, or relative or a friend has sufficient equity in a home, building or real estate, he or she may be allowed to use that property as collateral for a property bond. All property Bonds must go through the court.

Personal Recognizance or Own Recognizance Bond – The inmate promises to appear in court when ordered and the inmates agreement to abide by any special conditions that may be a condition of the bond. The judge may also require that the bond be co-signed by a second person to further insure the inmate’s appearance in court. There are times employees of the LCDC may release an inmate on the Personal Recognizance or Own Recognizance bond. The court has assigned certain officers as court designees.

Bonds are accepted prior to the first court appearance after arrest. A judge may authorize any type of bond. The Detention Center works with the courts during the bonding process. The LCDC charges a $10 dollar bonding fee on all bonds and for each warrant.
