The Luna County Road Department is a highly operational and responsive entity including twenty-six (26) employees spread out within three (3) divisions (administration, logistics, and operations). Our overall operational structure includes heavy equipment operators, truck drivers, mechanics, welders, administrators, and solid waste personnel. The department's activities are overseen by one (1) Road Supervisor and one (1) Director. We proudly strive to maintain the safety of 1,632 miles of unpaved roads and 221 miles of paved roads for the year of 2023 as well as maintaining five (5) convenience stations, tire shredding operations, and responding to citizen road concerns and trash pickup requests. The Luna County Road Department proudly works in cooperation with our community partners at the City of Deming, NMDOT, Border Patrol/Homeland Security, BLM, and many others to ensure the needs of the county are met. We welcome all comments and feedback from the public and look forward to serving Luna County in 2023.

MISSION STATEMENT Our departmental goals are to provide the people living and working within Luna County vital services in the area of safety; enhancing and preserving the existing paved roads and county maintained highways, provide flood control throughout the county by installing culverts (where practical) to prevent washouts of roads and ditches, to divert/control the direction of flood waters when applicable, and protect property livestock through maintained gates and cattle guards. With the maintenance of our roadways we promote growth in the county, growth in the agricultural industry (farm to market venues), and assist homeland security emergency management personnel by providing safe and well maintained roads to enable quick response should an emergency occur.
